A Higgins man is behind bars after a police raid resulted in him being arrested and charged with three child abuse offences.
Geoffrey Robert Appleby did not apply for bail or enter pleas when he appeared in the ACT Magistrates Court on Thursday morning.
Magistrate Beth Campbell formally charged the 44-year-old with two counts of possessing child abuse material on Wednesday, and one count of using a carriage service to access child abuse material in October last year.
No further details of the alleged offences were given in court, and Mr Appleby was remanded in custody to appear in court again on August 27.
In a statement, ACT Policing said officers from the ACT Joint Anti-Child Exploitation Team raided Mr Appleby's home on Wednesday.
Police will allege in court that during their search of the home, officers found evidence including a hidden camera and child abuse material stored on electronic devices.
