Man remains critical in hospital after being stabbed in house - two women have been released on bail

A man remains in a critical condition after he was stabbed at a house in Oldham.

The 38-year-old had to be airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries after reports of a stabbing on Howardian Close.

Police were called shortly after 9.20am on Sunday, 12 January.

Two women - aged 50 and 29 - were arrested on suspicion of assault.

They have since been bailed pending further investigations.

A police cordon remained at the property for much of Sunday and into Monday, while detectives gathered information.

A spokesperson for GMP said on Sunday: "Shortly after 9.20am on Sunday 12 January 2020, police were called to reports that a man had been stabbed at a property on Howardian Close, Oldham.

"Emergency services attended with the support of an air ambulance and a 38-year-old man has been taken to hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

"Two women – aged 50 and 29 – have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

"They remain in custody for questioning.

"A scene remains in place and enquiries are ongoing."
