Man raped in Edinburgh city centre

A man has been raped in Edinburgh city centre.

Cordons were put in place at the corner of George IV Bridge and Chambers Street, and Greyfriars Kirkyard as police launched an investigation into the attack on the 25-year-old.

The attack happened at about 6.30am.

A Police Scotland spokeswoman said: "Police in Edinburgh are investigating following the serious sexual assault of a 25-year-old man.

"Inquiries into the full circumstances of this incident are ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Police Scotland on 101."
