Detectives have now issued CCTV images of a man they would like to trace.

They believe the man pictured will have information about the assault that took place that could help with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: "This was a dangerous and reckless attack that has left the victim seriously injured, and such violence like this will never be tolerated on the streets of Merseyside.
