Man punches kebab shop window after leaving casino - then 'tenses his arms' at police

A Henbury man punched a kebab shop window on a night out in the city centre.

Harry Alker, of Clavell Road, was drunk and disorderly outside Diamond Kebab in the early hours of February 1.

The 23-year-old admitted the offence on February 20 at Bristol Magistrates’ Court, where he was ordered to pay £301.

Prosecutor Kevin Blackmore told the court: “At 3.15am, police were called to Diamond Kebab in response to a male causing issues.

“He was hitting the kebab shop window with his hands. Attending officers attempted to communicate with him.

“He appeared intoxicated and unable to moderate his behaviour. His speech was slurred and incoherent.

“When he was asked to leave, he became aggressive and refused. He was putting members of the public at risk.”

The court heard Alker puffed out his chest and tensed his arms when officers tried to reason with him.

He struggled against the police when they attempted to arrest him, then the officers sprayed him with PAVA.

Mr Blackmore continued: “On the floor, he started screaming and refused to put his feet down.”

He was eventually arrested and detained at Patchway police station.

Representing himself, Alker told the court: “I don’t remember it. I was black-out drunk.

“I don’t normally get in a state like that. I can’t even remember leaving the casino I was at. I am sorry for my behaviour.”

He revealed he is self-employed and earns around £1,200 a month.

Presiding Justice Deborah Merrick ordered him to pay a £185 fine, £32 victim surcharge and prosecution costs of £85.
