Man punches bouncer in face after being refused service at Weston bar

A man has been fined after drunkenly punching a bouncer at a Weston-super-Mare bar.

Warren Lloyd, 39, attacked a bouncer at Skinny Dippers, in Richmond Street, on the evening of April 22.

Lloyd, of Stradling Avenue, was ordered to pay £170 today (May 15) at North Somerset Magistrates’ Court, after admitting assault.

Prosecutor Nicole Miebai said: “The defendant had been refused service at the bar and was asked to leave.

“He was asked to leave the premises and became abusive.”

After the bouncer, told Lloyd to leave, the defendant approached him in “an aggressive manner”.

“He started throwing punches towards him,” Ms Miebai added. “The second punch connected with his eye.”

She told the court the “full-force” blow left the victim feeling dazed, but did not cause significant injury.

Security staff called police and PC Gate attended, pursuing the defendant and arresting him.

Lloyd, representing himself, said: “I didn’t get refused straight away. I was in the club for a good three hours with no trouble.

“Obviously I had too much to drink and I wasn’t listening after that. Obviously I regret it. I don’t know what else to say.”

Presiding Justice Erica Imison ordered Lloyd to pay a £55 fine, a £30 victim surcharge and £85 in court costs.
