Man 'punched in the face by Loyalist bandsman' after playing Wolfe Tones song at parade

A man was allegedly "punched in the face by a Loyalist bandsman" after playing a Wolfe Tones song at a parade.

The incident happened on Saturday, September 18 on the Hope Street area of Belfast at around 5.45pm.

A video of the incident has been widely circulated on social media, Belfast Live reports.

The footage shows a man sitting in his car with the driver side window down, listening to 'On the One Road' by the Irish music band as a parade walks past.

During the video he is confronted by one of the bandsmen, who punches him twice through the open window before the video ends.

Police have said that they are currently investigating reports of an alleged assault.

A PSNI spokesperson said: "Police received a report of an alleged assault in the Hope Street area of south Belfast at around 5.45pm on Saturday (September, 18th).

"Enquiries are continuing in relation to this matter."
