Man punched and put in headlock in 'unprovoked' St Patrick's Day attack

Police say a man was punched in the face and placed in a headlock during an 'unprovoked' attack on St Patrick's Day. The victim, a 28-year-old man, was walking along West Gate, Mansfield, at around 4.30pm on Thursday, March 17.

The force say the victim was not seriously injured. They are now appealing for anyone with any information into what happened to contact them.

PC David Mclean, of Nottinghamshire Police, said: “This was a nasty and unprovoked assault on a victim who was simply walking down the street at the time. Extensive local investigations have been carried out but as yet we have not been able to identify a suspect.

“Although this event happened some time ago, we believe people may remember where they were because it was St Patrick’s Day. We would like to speak to anybody who witnessed an altercation in the street, or anyone else who has any information about what happened.”

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 564 of 17 March 2022.
