A man had three children in the car when he was pulled over by police and arrested on suspicion of drink driving.
The 41-year-old was stopped by officers on Lovely Lane in Warrington, where police said he failed a roadside breath test.
He was driving a blue Peugeot 307 at the time of the incident, which happened shortly before 7pm on Saturday, May 22.
The man was arrested on suspicion of drink driving, driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
He has now been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
A spokesperson from Cheshire Police said the children who were in the car at the time of the incident were taken home by their parent.
In a statement, they said: "At 6.52pm on Saturday 22 May officers stopped a blue Peugeot 307 on Lovely Lane, Warrington.
"The driver of the car was arrested on suspicion of drink driving after failing a roadside breath test. He was also held on suspicion of driving without a licence and driving without insurance.
"The 41-year-old from Warrington was taken to custody and has since been released under investigation pending further enquiries.
"The children who were in the ca at the time of the incident were taken home by their parent."
