Man pulled from Glasgow canal by quick-thinking local who performed CPR until ambulance arrived

A quick-thinking member of the public has been praised for pulling a man from the Forth and Clyde Canal.

Emergency services were called to the scene near to Firhill Road around 9.15pm on Monday.

The brave resident pulled the man in distress from the water and performed CPR on him before ambulance crews arrived.

Police were also called the scene and the man was rushed to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is currently being treated.

His condition is unknown.

A spokesman for Police Scotland said: "Around 9.15pm on Monday, May 4, officers were called to the report of a man being pulled from the canal near to Firhill Road in Glasgow.

"The man was removed from the scene by ambulance to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where he is currently being treated."

Local community group No1seems2care praised the man for his efforts.
