Man proposes to girlfriend by tattooing 'Will you marry me?' on his knee

An MMA fighter proposed to his love by having "Will you marry me?" tattooed onto his knee - with two boxes marked 'YES' and 'NO'

Vince Murdock, 28, had the questioned inked onto the joint and covered it up with a bandage to hide it from his sweetheart Kira Feightner, 25.

He claimed he had a sports injury for weeks until he found the perfect time to get down on one knee during a dramatic mountain hike.

Kira was stunned when he ripped off the bandage to reveal the question - to which she immediately replied 'yes'.

They then went to a tattoo parlour where the bride-to-be sealed the engagement by applying an 'X' to the 'yes' box.

Vince said: "I knew right at the beginning that Kira was the one and I knew she deserved a really special proposal.

"For me I could do it anywhere but I knew it was important to her that it was memorable.

"I was wracking my brain trying to come up with something great and I was in the chair getting another tattoo when I thought of it.

"I thought it would be cool to get a tattoo that said 'Will you marry me' with a box to check 'Yes' or 'No'."

Kira added: "His proposal blew me away. He loves tattoos so this really falls into place for him. It was so memorable.

"I was honestly so surprised and excited."

Vince, a pro MMA fighter, met office manager Kira in March 2017 and began plotting his proposal a year later.

He had the question tattooed in May 2018 and managed to conceal it from Kira for four months while he waited for the right time to pop the question.

After a two-month fighting stint in Australia, Vince asked her to accompany him on a hike in El Dorado, California, on September 30 with some friends.

He found a picturesque spot and asked Kira to finally rip off the adhesive medical tape before he dropped onto one knee.

Vince, of Antelope, California, said: "I was thinking about where I would ask her that would be meaningful. Dinner didn't seem appropriate.

"We both love the outdoors and hiking. My friend mentioned this spot where there's a waterfall and just crazy cool scenery.

"It felt like the right spot.

"I was incredibly nervous.

"We were hiking for about a half an hour and I was building up the courage to ask her, then I would chicken out and keep walking.

"Eventually I just told Kira that the spot we were at was perfect for a picture. I had a really great speech prepared but I forgot everything.

"I told her to rip the tape off my knee and she didn't even hear me. I had to repeat myself. Eventually I screamed 'rip off the tape!'

"When she ripped it off, I don't even think she saw the tattoo.

"I got down on one knee and asked her to marry me and thankfully she said 'yes'."

Kira said she kept asking Vince why he was wearing a bandage but he dodged her questions every time.

"I didn't know he had gotten a tattoo," she said. "He had his leg bandaged up but he kept telling me it was for an injury.

"I was curious and I asked a bunch of times, but he told me it was wrapped for sore muscles."

Vince said: "Every so often she would ask me, 'Are you going to wear that forever?'

"She would poke at it sometimes and I would get nervous but it's super strong tape that adheres to the skin for seven days."

The couple visited Vince's tattoo artist two weeks after the proposal to place a cross mark in the 'YES' box.

Vince said he can't wait to wed Kira in Summer 2020 but says there won't be another tattoo in store.

Vince said: "I love everything about Kira. I love her energy. She's incredibly upbeat and positive. She never speaks ill of anyone and she's just wonderful.

"I feel like I have one first place at the county fair. She's a genuine person that you always want to see smile.

"I can't wait to marry her."

Kira added: "I will treasure the video forever. The week after the proposal I watched it so many times and I cried.

"The fact that he will have the tattoo forever is so special."
