A 47-year-old man allegedly struck a police officer in the face while he was being processed for drug driving offences at the ACT Regional Watch House on Tuesday evening.
ACT Policing said about 12.35pm on Tuesday, police were conducting patrols on Drakeford Drive, Wanniassa, when they stopped a gold Hyundai Elantra.
The driver, a 47-year-old man from Scullin, underwent a roadside drug and alcohol screening test. The breath test returned a negative result, however the drug screening test returned a positive indication for a prescribed drug.
The man was arrested and taken to Tuggeranong Police Station, where an oral fluid analysis confirmed the presence of a prescribed drug in his system.
He was transported to the ACT Regional Watch House, where police will further allege he became aggressive and threatened police officers.
About 6pm, while officers were speaking with the man, he allegedly attempted to take documents from an officer before striking him in the face.
The Scullin man, who was subject to a good behaviour order, will face the ACT Magistrates Court on Wednesday, July 1, charged with driving with a prescribed drug in oral fluid and assaulting frontline community service provider.
