Man pretended to be invisible in front of police after breaking into building

A man who broke into a building tried to avoid police by pretending to be invisible.

Kenneth Allan, 39, was found crouched in the corner of a room in Glasgow's Govan on March 13, 2022.

Glasgow Sheriff Court was told a woman heard banging outside the premises owned by a housing association.

She then saw Allan - in dark clothing and a surgical mask - strike a window.

A 999 call was made and police attended.

Officers found the window to the building tampered with.

Prosecutor Lauren Donnelly said: "The officers observed Allan within the premises removing a TV from the wall.

"The accused then noticed police sat in the corner of the room, pretending he was invisible."

Allan climbed back out of the window when he was then arrested.

Allan pled guilty yesterday to breaking into commercial premises with intent to steal.

He was jailed for 16 months by sheriff Paul Crozier.
