Man pleads not guilty to murdering Canberran found dead on neighbour's doorstep

Mr Allan died in front of a neighbour's house in December.

A man arrested over the death of Bobby Stuart Allen has denied murdering the Canberran, who died on his neighbour's doorstep.

Mr Allan, 48, died in Goodenia Street in Rivett late last year after being assaulted, police say.

Police said he may have been seeking help for his injuries.

On Wednesday Griffith man Dean Phillip Welsh, 49, was arrested and charged with murder.

In court on Thursday Mr Welsh pleaded not guilty to the charges and was remanded in custody after choosing not to apply for bail.

Detective Superintendent Mark Steel from ACT Policing said further charges would likely be laid.

"The actual investigation into the death of Mr Allan is ongoing, and we do expect further charges will be laid in due course," he said.

'[It] forms part of our investigation as to whether [Mr Welsh] acted alone or was in company.

"He is known to police, but obviously it's inappropriate to comment any further."

Mr Welsh will be back in court in May.
