Man pleads guilty to possessing an axe in Old Market Square

A 42-year-old man has pleaded guilty to possessing an axe and wounding after an incident Old Market Square.

Sirban Farj, of no fixed address, was arrested at the time and charged.

Nottinghamshire Live reported units from roads policing, the dog section and firearms officers were called to Old Market Square just before 6.15pm on Friday, February 19.

Police said a man was taken to hospital and required hospital treatment but his injuries are not serious, a police statement had said.

Farj pleaded guilty at Nottingham Crown Court on Friday, December 3, to assaulting an emergency worker, wounding and possessing an offensive weapon - an axe - and was remanded into custody to be sentenced on February 3 next year.
