Man paints over road markings to make his commute home quicker

A man painted over road direction markings in eastern China to make his bus ride home quicker, it has been reported.

The man, who has not been named, was caught on a surveillance camera with paint and a brush altering the markings in Lianyungang in Jiangsu province.

He had changed arrows in one lane to turn left, instead of going straight on as he believed that the two existing lanes to go straight on were not sufficient and therefore there were often delays.

When police tracked him down he admitted to repainting the roads.

“I saw the straight lane was always packed with cars, while the turning left lane has a lot of space,” the man told the Modern Express.

“So I thought changing the signs would make my commute smoother.”

The man was fined 1,000 Chinese Yuan (£110) for his troubles and the markings have now been changed back to normal.
