Man on wheelchair pushed to ground and robbed in sickening Cork city incident

A man has been arrested and charged after a shocking incident involving a man in a wheelchair in Cork City.

Just before 4pm on Monday, a man in a wheelchair was on Gravel Lane when a man approached him, pushed him to the ground and stole his wallet.

The man was left lying on the floor as the other man fled the scene.

Gardai attended the scene and carried out a patrol however no arrest was made at the time - CorkBeo reports.

Detectives from Bridewell Garda Station began investigating and a potential suspect was nominated.

Gardai executed a search warrant yesterday and with the assistance of Armed Support Unit, detectives arrested a man in connection with the incident.

The man, aged in his 40s, was brought to Bridewell Garda Station and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

He has since been charged and is due to appear before Cork City District Court this morning.
