Man on Tinder slammed by potential match after making 'clueless' joke about age

A man using dating app Tinder has been mocked by people on the internet after he made an "immature" joke to a potential match.

The unknown man connected with a woman who had celebrated her birthday the day before they matched - and he made a distasteful joke about her age - which backfired on him.

Taking to Reddit, he shared a screenshot of their conversation, asking others if he had been a "douche" or "did she blow up at me for no reason".

The snippets shared online saw a message from him asking: "What are you now 32 right?"

The woman says: "Yepp, as of yesterday."

He responded: "Another year closer to those senior citizen discounts."

The woman didn't find his comment funny, penning back: "You can use this as a learning opportunity.

"I am completely secure in my age but saying that sort of thing to ANY woman will not go well. By saying it, I realise you may be too immature for me. Thank you and have a great night."

He didn't let the conversation stop there, and went back for more.

"You don’t like jokes?" he questioned.

The man added: "'I am completely secure in my age!’ Proceeds to have complete meltdown over age joke. Yea I’m pretty sure that means you aren’t secure and there’s some insecurities there. Anyone else would play that joke off and get me back with something funny but you nearly had a breakdown."

He added in his Reddit post that the woman didn't respond after he replied to her.

Other users slammed the man for lacking basic social skills, as they didn't find his remarks funny either.

"All you had to do was say happy birthday," one person told him.

A second penned: "Hilarious you say she had a meltdown as you behave the exact same way."

A third said: "She literally told you it was her birthday and instead of saying ‘happy birthday’ or ‘did you get any cool gifts’ you made a rude joke about her age."

Another urged the man to "be nice" as they wrote: "That’s the type of joke you make when you’re dating and super comfortable around one another. Be nice and tell her she looks gorgeous or do the ole ‘damn I honestly thought you were 27’. Nothing beats knocking a few years off her age … she will love you after that. Try being nice. It goes a long way."
