Princes Road in Toxteth was closed after police were called to a report of concern for the safety of a man .

It is believed that at around 10.30pm the man was seen sitting on top of a bay window in the first floor of a house that was surrounded by scaffolding.

Police officers quickly closed the road as fire crews , paramedics and the hazardous area response team were also sent to the scene.

Pictures of the house showed one police officer on the scaffolding below the man while another was seen leaning out of a window above where he was perched.

A large cordon was also put in place.

A police spokesperson said: "The man came down shortly after midnight and was taken to hospital."
