Man on quad bike killed in road crash

A man riding a quad bike has died after a reported collision in Bolton.

Emergency services were called to Manchester Road in Great Lever, Bolton, at 7.30pm tonight.

The man, aged in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

He has not been named.

Police are appealing for witnesses and roads in the area have been cordoned off by officers for investigation work.

It happened near St Michael's Church on Manchester Road, which is near the junction with Green Lane.

Manchester Road runs parallel to the A666 St Peter's Way.

Police were called to the scene by paramedics.

No further details have been released by police.

GMP did not say what the quad bike was in collision with, if at all.

In a statement GMP said: "Police are appealing for information following a fatal collision in Bolton.

"At around 7.30pm police were called by the ambulance service to Manchester Road, Bolton, following a report that a quad bike had been involved in a collision close to St Michael's Church.

"Sadly, the rider of the quad bike, a man believed to be in his 30s, was pronounced dead at the scene.

"Road closures are in place in the area."
