Man on motor robberies rap after BMWs stolen during 'break ins' near Edinburgh

An alleged motor thief has been arrested and charged after a string of robberies near Edinburgh.

The 21-year-old was charged with two housebreakings that took place in May, 2021 as well as a third intention to commit theft.

The three alleged incidents took place overnight from Tuesday, May 25 into Wednesday, May 26 in Cockenzie, Longniddry and East Linton in East Lothian

Two BMW cars were stolen from two of the addresses, with one of the vehicles later recovered.

The accused was set to appear before Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday, July 21.

Detective Inspector Laura Dickson said: "These types of crimes can have a devastating impact on victims and tackling acquisitive crime remains one of our top priorities.

"I would urge anyone who observes any unusual or suspicious behaviour to contact us via 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 in order that we can investigate and take action".
