Man on knifepoint robbery rap after Edinburgh casino staff 'threatened with blade'

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with a knifepoint robbery at an Edinburgh casino.

Staff at the Genting Casino on the city's Dundee Street were allegedly threatened with a knife and forced to hand over thousands of pounds.

The incident took place at about 1am on Monday August 9.

Police launched an investigation into the robbery and have now arrested and charged a 21-year-old man in connection with the crime.

He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today.

A police statement read: "A 21-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with an armed robbery at a casino in Edinburgh.

"The incident happened on Dundee Street around 1am on Monday, 9 August.

"The man is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court today."
