Man on drunken rampage damaged multiple cars in County Durham village

A man drunkenly damaged multiple cars during a rampage in the early hours of the morning.

Ryan Spearman left a trail of destruction when he damaged several vehicles in the early hours of Sunday, November 15 in Burnopfield, County Durham.

The 26-year-old was arrested and charged with four counts of vehicle interference, two counts of criminal damage and being in possession of a controlled drug.

He appeared at Newton Aycliffe Magistrates’ Court on Monday, where he pleaded guilty to all offences.

Spearman, of Waterloo Walk, Washington, is expected to be sentenced at Newcastle Crown Court on December 15.

Detective Inspector Chris Woollett, of Durham Constabulary, said: “This behaviour was totally unacceptable and impacted a lot of residents who had their vehicles damaged by Spearman.

“I would like to thank everyone who came forward to report these crimes and reassure residents that Spearman will be dealt with.”
