Man on assault rap after 'shaken' woman allegedly attacked in Scots town

A man has been arrested and charged in connection with an assault in East Ayrshire.

A 24-year-old woman was left 'badly shaken' after being attacked in Bonnyton Road, Kilmarnock on July 25.

The incident took place at around 12.10am.

Police launched a probe, appealing for witnesses to come forward.

Ayrshire Police Division released a statement on Friday, which confirmed that a 28-year-old man had been arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident.

He is due to appear in court on Monday.

it read: "A 28-year-old man has been arrested in charged in connection with an assault on a woman which occurred on Bonnyton Road, Kilmarnock in the early hours of Sunday, July 25, 2021.

"He is due to appear before Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Monday, August 2."
