Man on abduction and assault rap after alleged gang attack at Scots cemetery

A man has been charged in connection with a serious assault and abduction in Paisley.

Police launched a probe after three men were said to have been assaulted by a gang of men on Broomlands Street at Maxwellton Street around 9.25pm on Thursday December 2.

It's reported that one of the alleged victims was then forced into the back of a car and driven to Langfaulds Cemetery on Baljaffray Road in Glasgow.

He was believed to have then further assaulted and threatened, with six males said to have stolen cash and a mobile phone.

The man received treatment for his injuries at hospital and was later released.

We told how police had launched an appeal for information following the alleged incident.

A 25-year-old has since been arrested and charged in connection with an abduction and assault.

He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday, December 8.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "A 25-year-old has been arrested and charged in connection with an abduction and assault in Paisley.

"Around 9.25pm on Thursday, 2 December, 2021, police received a report three men were assaulted by a group of men in Broomlands Street at Maxwellton Street in Paisley, and Baljaffray Road in Glasgow.

"The 25-year-old man was due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday, 8 December, 2021.
