Man offers pint to anyone who brings his bag from Bristol Temple Meads to London

A man will buy a drink for the person who brings his bag from Bristol Temple Meads station's lost property store to London.

Food writer Danny Kingston lost a Turner & George canvas bag containing his glasses and other items while travelling on a Devon train on August 29.

The 44-year-old received a call from Great Western Railway yesterday morning (October 3) saying his property has been found and is being held in Bristol.

But Mr Kingston lives in east London and would rather not go all the way to Bristol - so he has made an unusual offer on social media.

He posted to Twitter: "Thank you @GWRHelp for locating my bag with glasses, left on the train from Torquay in August.

"Now, is anyone travelling from Bristol Temple Meads into London soon, and wouldn't mind popping into Lost Property there? I will buy you a drink. Pls RT."

Mr Kingston told Bristol Live his offer is a "fun little quirky thing to do on social media".

He added: "I could go there myself, but it would be handier if someone could get it for me.

"I have a few followers on Twitter who are from Bristol, foodies who often go to London.

"Hopefully one of them will be up for it. It's a nice chance to meet someone for a drink."

Mr Kingston was holidaying in Dawlish with friends and family at the time he lost his items.

He said: "We had been out for the day in Torquay, and on the way back to Dawlish, I jumped off the train and realised straight away I'd left my stuff on board.

"The bag isn't really of any value, but it had my glasses inside, and towels and trunks from the beach. I do have a spare pair of glasses, but they're not my favourite pair.

"I'd given up any hope of getting my stuff back, but then I got an email from the Lost and Found team, so I decided to put up the tweet."

Mr Kingston posted his offer at 8.56am yesterday and is still waiting for someone to take it up. You can contact him on Twitter here.
