Mayo's Padraig OHora described his side's win against Dublin as the 'best day of my life'.
James Horan's side shocked Dublin to end their hopes of winning a seventh title in a row.
And Mayo defender Padraig OHora won Man of the Match for his efforts and was ecstatic.
Speaking to RTE after the game, he said: "It's impossible to put it into words. Look at this place, what it means to all of us. I can't even describe it. Unbelievable. Best day of my life.
"We love a battle and we always seem to put ourselves at the bottom of the hill before we go climbing it. We knew what we needed to do and we put in the work all year, it's an outrageous squad and everyone really put in a shift and we turned them over like we planned to.
"Like I said, we've got a squad of outrageous players that put in hard work week in and week out that you don't see. When Oisin got hurt and somebody else stepped up and this is what it's all about. This is a unit, it's not a group of individuals, it's a team.."
Dublin looked as if they were coasting to yet another All-Ireland final as they were six points up at half time.
James Horan made a big call and took off captain Aidan O'Shea while Mayo mounted a remarkable comeback.
It was a late Rob Hennelly 45 that sent the game to extra time and from then on Mayo didn't look back.
Lee Keegan was superb throughout and had multiple turnovers as he helped inspire the Connacht Champions.
Dublin lost their composure and Colm Basquel's black card seemed to drive the nail in the coffin as Mayo ran out three point winners.
