'Man of my words' - Nottingham Forest hero has message for his adoring public

Brice Samba is a man of his word.

The Congolese goalkeeper was critical of his own performance in the 2-2 draw at Millwall earlier in December when his error allowed the hosts to grab a stoppage time equaliser and he said he’d do his best to make up for that.

On Sunday afternoon, with Nottingham Forest leading Wigan 1-0 courtesy of Tobias Figueiredo’s header on the hour mark, the visitors were given a lifeline when Alfa Semedo’s silly challenge saw them awarded a penalty.

Samba did his best to distract Josh Windass who had his spot-kick saved by the Forest stopper, a moment which grew louder cheers than the ones which greeted the opening goal.

Redemption. (If he needed it, such has been the standard of his performances).

His popularity has soared among Forest supporters with his effervescent, charismatic displays and it reached whole new levels as the Reds moved back into the Championship’s top six.

The goalkeeper and midfield general Samba Sow have shared regular banter on Twitter in recent weeks, and their relationship was evident again in the aftermath of Monday’s success

Sow, who missed the game after picking up a dead leg at Hull on Boxing Day, tweeted a video of Samba showing off some of his dance moves in the City Ground changing room.
