Man obstructing ambulance and emergency worker arrested by police

A man has been arrested after obstructing the North West Ambulance Service this morning.

Police were called to Sheil Road, in Kensington, at around 5.30am this morning, to reports of a man in the road.

The paramedics were on their way to an incident at a home address when the 65-year-old reportedly obstructed the ambulance.

A Merseyside police spokesperson told the ECHO : "We have arrested a man following an incident in Kensington this morning, Tuesday 31 August.

"At around 5.30am, North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) requested assistance after reporting that a man was obstructing an ambulance on the junction of Sheil Road and Boaler Street.

"A 65-year-old man of no fixed abode was arrested on suspicion of obstructing the highway and obstructing an emergency worker. He has been taken into custody."

A North West Ambulance spokesperson said that they were attending a lower category incident at the time.
