Man 'nearly fainted' after finding giant live moth scurrying inside his M&S wrap

A shopper was left petrified when he found a giant live moth crawling in his packaged lunch he purchased from Marks and Spencer.

Cameron Meakin purchased a 'Hoisin duck wrap' from the supermarket retailer at the Warrington branch on Monday.

He said he 'nearly fainted' when he was about to open the package to find a huge moth scurrying around the completely sealed £3.30 wrap.

Cameron, who works in a barbers in Stockton Heath, decided to post a video of his vile discovery on Facebook as proof.

The clip shows the huge dark-coloured winged creature wriggling around the duck and salad leaves on the edge of the cellophane-sealed packet.

He wrote in caption: "Can someone tell me why there's a massive moth in my wrap from M&S? - Rank!"

Cameron told Liverpool Echo : "It fully did make me gag! Especially cause it was still alive and because of how big it was!

"I just think it was quite repulsing. What if the moth had some sort of virus or something and I didn't see it and eat it?

"I know it sounds dramatic but you never know do you?! I nearly fainted when I saw it."

Cameron, who took his lunch back to the store and complained to the staff, said the grim discovery made him question the food hygiene standards of M&S.

A spokesman for M&S said: "We are really sorry to hear about Mr Meaken's complaint.

"We've asked him to return the wrap to his local store so we can investigate, and our customer services team are in touch."
