Man named after he was killed in tragic DIY gardening accident in Farnworth

A man who died in a serious incident in Farnworth has been named.

Danny Newberry was pronounced dead at the scene in Tulip Avenue on Friday.

The M.E.N. understands he died as a result of a DIY gardening accident.

Residents on the Flower Estate spotted a large number of police vehicles and ambulances outside a home on the street at about 9.20am on Friday.

Paramedics rushed to the area but, despite their best efforts, Mr Newberry was pronounced dead at the scene.

Part of the road was cordoned off between 9.30am and around 1pm.

Police have since confirmed that there were no suspicious circumstances surrounding the incident.

Bolton Coroner's Court confirmed that it had received a file on Mr Newberry's death.

No date has yet been fixed for an opening of the inquest.

Coun Sue Haworth, who represents Harper Green ward in Farnworth, said: “It is really sad and shocking to hear that a local man lost his life in what appears to be a tragic accident at home that family and friends will be having to come to terms with at the present time.

"I send my condolences to all.”

A spokesman for GMP said: "At around 9.20am on Friday, August 7, police were called to an incident on Tulip Avenue, Bolton.

"Emergency services attended.

"A man was sadly pronounced dead a short time later.

"There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death."
