Man misses England game after police scrambler chase

Police discovered a cannabis farm after they arrested a man seen riding a scrambler bike in Kirkby.

Officers spotted the scrambler being ridden "dangerously" in the Old Rough Park area yesterday. This led to a chase, which saw the man try to dump the bike and run off.

He was arrested at the scene.

When police carried out a search of his house they discovered a cannabis farm with an estimated yield of £4,800 per year. Officers seized £2000 in individual deal bags, which can be sold on the street.

Last night police posted photographs of the cannabis and a comment which read: "Kirkby community team have arrested a male after he was riding dangerously around Old Rough Park/Old Rough Lane on a scrambler bike.

"He attempted to escape officers but was caught on Roughwood Drive and tried to discard the bike. Officers attended his house and then located a cannabis farm.

"A total of £48000 PA and almost £2000 in individual deal bags have been seized as well as a Suzuki scrambler bike.

"And to make matters worse, he's going to miss the England game."

A police spokesman confirmed that a man aged 19 had been arrested.
