A former gravedigger who has lived alone in a cemetery for 23 years says he never wants to move.
Gulf War veteran Marc Cox, 54, has lived in Witton cemetery, Birmingham, since 1999 and admits he finds comfort in being around the coffins.
Mr Cox said: "People ask me how I can live here - but I always say 'what do you mean? People are dying to come here.
"I've been to war, I’m scared of the living, not the dead", he told BirminghamLive.
The haunting experience has let him worried on some occasions, especially when it comes to 'the Grey Girl' - the ghost of a young girl with long black hair and grey clothes who has allegedly stared at hime through the window.
He said: "I didn’t think anything of her at the time but a few years later I was approached by a group of mourners who I got chatting to. I told them I lived alone and they asked: 'Who’s that girl we always see in your window?'
"I’ve been to war but nothing has scared me stiff like that. I do feel like there’s something in it."
The divorcee has even named another ghost which has kept him up at night in the cemetery.
The veteran says the ghost "Amy" looks after him while he lives in the spooky surroundings.
He added: "There’s a comfort in it," he says. "I think she looks after me, she’s never done me any harm."
The creepy living conditions were the perfect setting for Marc and his kids to do their best Addams family impressions as he revealed the family spent hours in the graveyard having fun.
But he admits kids don't go anywhere near the house at Halloween, so he scoffs the treats himself.
Marc explained: "Halloween is a funny one because I’ve never, ever had any kids come knocking at my door," he chuckles. "Maybe they’re too scared, but I end up having all the sweets myself!
"When my kids were little they used to make me re-enact scenes from The Addams Family films with them out on the graveyard - they loved it."
