Man left with serious injuries after brutal attack near Scots graveyard

A man has been hospitalised after a brutal nighttime attack near a Scots graveyard.

Emergency services found the 26-year-old with serious injuries after reports of a 'disturbance' at Hawkhead Road near the cemetery in Paisley last night.

The man was rushed to the Golden Jubilee hospital in Clydebank where he is described as being in a serious but stable condition.

Police had the cemetery taped off late last night and into today as they probed the grounds as part of their investigations.

Shocked locals commented on the presence online wondering what had happened.

A Police Scotland spokesman said a probe had now been launched by the force into the attack.

He said: “Around 8.50pm on Sunday, 4 October, 2020, police received report of a disturbance on Hawkhead Road, Paisley.

“A 26-year-old man was taken to Golden Jubilee Hospital, Clydebank, with serious injuries where he is described as being in a serious but stable condition.

“Enquiries into the incident are ongoing.”
