Man left with serious injuries after being stabbed in street as mob watched

A man was taken to hospital with serious injures after being stabbed in a street as a mob watched.

The 40-year-old was attacked in Hillhouse Road in Hamilton, South Lanarkshire, on Friday night.

The attack happened at around 7pm as images appeared on social media of a group of males holding poles and golf clubs in the same area.

Police Scotland are following a positive line of enquiry and appealing for witnesses with potential footage to come forward.

The man was rushed to hospital and is in a stable condition.

Detective Constable John Law of Cambuslang CID said: "Our enquiries are ongoing into a serious assault on a 40 year-old man in Hillhouse Road, Hamilton around 7pm on Friday, August 7.

"We are currently following a positive line of enquiry in relation to this incident.

"The injured man was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Wishaw where hospital staff describe his condition as stable.

"Initial enquiries have revealed that there were a number of witnesses to this attack and I would ask anyone who has not yet spoken to officers to come forward.

"Anyone with video footage or dash-cam footage is also asked to contact us as they may be able to assist our investigation into this serious assault."
