Man left with serious head injury after teen thug bottle attack

A man needed seven staples to close a wound in his head after he we was bottled in a senseless attack.

The 26-year-old was walking on Church Street in Johnstone last night when he was attacked by two teens.

The young brutes smacked him over the head with a bottle, resulting in a large wound to his temple.

He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment to a serious injury - which doctors had to close with staples.

The victim will now be permanently scarred following the unprovoked assault which took place around 9.15pm.

Police in Renfrew are now appealing for witnesses in a bid to trace the yobs responsible.

One of the group is described as being in his late teens, early 20’s, with dark hair and wearing a grey tracksuit, the other male is described as wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a black t shirt.

Detective Constable Liam Rodgers, of Paisley Mill Street said: “The victim has been left with an injury which will cause permanent scarring.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and who saw anything suspicious or saw a group of young men around that time to come forward.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 4159 of July 31, 2020.
