Man left with serious head injuries after one punch attack in Bristol city centre

A man is in hospital with a serious head injury after he was punched in the face in Bristol city centre.

The attack happened at 1am in the early hours of today, Friday August 20, outside the Be Lucky Casino - the games machine arcade between Sainsbury's and Aluna, by the bus stops facing the fountains on Broad Quay.

Police have issued two CCTV images as they hunt for a man in connection to the incident. He was pictured with a woman, and police are appealing to her to come forward as a witness.

The victim, a man in his 20s who has not been named, was approached by a man and the two became involved in an altercation.

"The victim was punched in the face by the offender, knocking him to the floor which resulted in a significant head injury. He was taken to the hospital where he continues to receive treatment," said a spokesperson for Avon and Somerset police. "Officers believe the woman pictured witnessed the assault and may be able to help them identify the offender. We appreciate it’s not a clear image but we hope someone may recognise them from their clothing."
