Man left with horror injuries after 'disturbance' sparks fire at Livingston flat

A man has been left with horror injuries after a fire broke out at a flat in Livingston.

Police raced to Juniper Grove last night after the alarm was raised over a 'disturbance' at around 6pm.

Mercy crews then rushed the victim to the local hospital burns unit for emergency treatment.

Locals claimed on social media that the victim may have set himself alight.

One person wrote: "What's with all the armed police in Craigshill? Apparently someone's set themselves on fire?"

It comes after 'specialist negotiators' were also called to the scene with police to help the victim.

Eyewitnesses reported 14 police cars swarm the scene yesterday evening.

Police Scotland said: "Around 6pm on Saturday, 8 May, 2021, police received a report of a disturbance and subsequent fire within a flat in Juniper Grove, Livingston.

"Emergency services attended, including specialist negotiators, and the man was taken to hospital.

"Enquiries are ongoing."
