Man left with broken jaw following savage attack in Kilmarnock town centre

A man has been left with a broken jaw following a savage attack in Kilmarnock at the weekend.

The 26-year-old was set upon by two men on Saturday night at around 10.20pm on John Finnie Street near the junction with Grange Place.

The man was rushed to Crosshouse Hospital where he was treated and later discharged.

The first suspect is described as: white, aged mid-20s to early 30s, 5ft 10in tall, of slim build, wearing a khaki green hat, a dark top and light-coloured jogging bottoms. The second man is described as: white, early 30s, 6ft 5in tall, wearing a dark-coloured top and light-coloured jogging bottoms.

Police said today that after the brutal attack another disturbance broke out with vehicles blocking the road.

Detective Constable Robert Graham of East Ayrshire CID said: "Officers have been checking CCTV and making local enquiries since the incident, however, are now appealing to anyone who was in the area at the time to contact them.

"After the assault there was another disturbance involving a number of people where vehicles on the road were obstructed as it spilled onto the street.

"We would ask anyone who saw the initial attack or who may have been driving past and has dash-cam footage to get in touch with police."

Anyone with information can contact officers at Kilmarnock police station via 101.
