Man left seriously injured after row involving ten people breaks out on street in West Lothian

A man has been left with a serious head injury after he was attacked on a street in West Lothian.

The assault took place after a row involving around ten people broke out on a street in Linlithgow during the early hours of Sunday.

Police said a man and woman in their 20s were walking south on Preston Road when they came across the group around 2.30am.

Two men approached the 22-year-old victim and he was struck on the side of the head, suffering a serious injury.

He was later treated at St John's Hospital in Livingston.

Detective constable Grant Ross of Livingston CID said: "The victim is likely to be scarred as a result and we're appealing for the public's help as part of our investigation into this incident.

"Anyone who may have witnessed this, who was in the area at this time or who has information which could be connected to this, and has not yet spoken to officers, is urged to come forward.

“Likewise, local residents with private CCTV are asked to check this and contact police if they have captured anything which might be relevant.”

Police Scotland can be contacted via 101, quoting incident number 0676 of July 21.
