Man left permanently scarred after being attacked in Johnstone street by two thugs

A man has been left permanently scarred after he was assaulted in the street in Johnstone.

The 26-year-old was targeted by two men in Church Street at around 9:15pm last night (July 31). He was rushed to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital to be treated for a serious injury.

Police are now appealing for witnesses and urge a group of men seen in the area at the time to come forward.

One of the attackers is described as being in his late teens or early 20s, with dark hair and wearing a grey tracksuit, the other male is described as wearing black tracksuit bottoms and a black t-shirt.

Detective Constable Liam Rodgers, of Paisley Mill Street said: “The victim has been left with an injury which will cause permanent scarring.

“I am appealing to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident and who saw anything suspicious or saw a group of young men around that time to come forward.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 101 quoting incident 4159 of 31 July, 2020.
