Man left in serious condition following attack by group of youths after 'verbal altercation' in Fairview, Dublin

Gardai have urged anyone with information over an attack on a man who has been left in a serious condition to come forward.

The victim, aged in his 60s, was set upon by a group of youths at Fairview Strand in Dublin on June 7 after 11pm following a “verbal altercation”, according to sources.

A witness who saw the attack told gardai that the victim got at least one kick to the head.

He was rushed to the Mater Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.

Three men, aged in their 20s, were arrested and questioned at Raheny Garda Station in the days that followed before they were released without charge with files going to the Director of Public Prosecutions.

But gardai are looking to question at least one more man in relation to the attack.

Appealing for information, a spokesman said: “Gardai are particularly appealing to anyone travelling through the area around the time of the incident who may have dash–cam or camera footage to come forward.

“Anyone with information can contact Raheny Garda Station on 01 666 4300, Clontarf at 01 666 4800 or the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.

“Investigations are ongoing.”
