An estranged son punched his 80-year-old dad in the street in broad daylight leaving him with a serious facial injury.
Daniel McAdams, 34, of Moorside Court, saw his dad on Widnes Road in Widnes town centre at around 3.30pm on Monday, February 1.
Cheshire police said as his dad was about to go into a café, McAdams approached him and “called him a name” then punched him in the face.
The victim fell to the ground and his glasses fell off.
Members of the public stopped to provide first aid for what police described as a “serious facial injury”, that would ultimately heal as a permanent scar.
The 80-year-old was then taken to hospital by ambulance.
McAdams walked away and in under an hour police had arrested him at home.
His knuckles were grazed and hands bloodied when arrested.

A Cheshire police spokesman said McAdams admitted the punch and showed no remorse.
McAdams was charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm without intent, to which he pleaded guilty at Liverpool Crown Court on Wednesday, March 3.
He returned to court yesterday where he received a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for 18 months, in addition to a rehabilitation activity requirement and a demand to pay a £156 victim surcharge.
The court also imposed a three-year restraining order that prohibits McAdams from contacting the victim in any way.
Detective Constable Kayleigh Brown, who led the investigation, said: “The victim in this case had been shopping in Widnes town centre when he decided to go to a café to grab a drink.
“As he approached the café he saw his estranged son Daniel McAdams walking towards him.
“Without warning or provocation, McAdams then punched the victim in the face and left him lying on the floor with a serious facial injury.

“The injury has left the pensioner with a permanent scar.
“I would like to thank the members of the public who helped the victim after he had been assaulted and called the emergency services.
“Thanks to them, the victim was quickly given the medical attention he needed and we were able to arrest McAdams within an hour of the assault.
“I hope the fact that he has now been convicted of, and sentenced for, the assault gives the victim some closure and enables him to move forward with his life.”
