A man is fighting for his life in hospital after he was thrown off a London Underground train by a fellow passenger.
Police said an altercation took place between two men on the train which led to one being hurled off the Tube carriage as it pulled into platform 3 at North Greenwich station.
The victim suffered “life-threatening injuries” – including a severe chest injury involving multiple broken ribs.
He was taken to hospital soon after the incident around 8.45pm on Friday evening and remains in critical condition.
A spokesperson for the British Transport Police (BTP) said his injuries “are not consistent with a stabbing” and officers are still working to establish exactly what happened.
Both the victim and the second man were described as white, but no further details have been given at this stage and no arrests have been made.
A BTP spokesman said: “It is believed there had been an altercation between the victim and another man which led to the victim being thrown off the Tube when it arrived at platform 3 at North Greenwich station.
“Officers are working to establish the circumstances that led to the incident.”
