Man left 'clinging onto grass' after becoming stuck on cliff in East Lothian

A man was left "clinging onto grass" after finding himself stuck on a cliff face when he strayed off a path in Dunbar, East Lothian.

North Berwick Coastguard Rescue Team, assisted by Dunbar Coastguard and East Lothian Police, were alerted to scene at 6pm yesterday evening (28 March).

A team was able to located the man, who they found "some ten metres from the top of the cliff, clinging onto the grass".

Coastguard Rescue officers deployed a rope rescue and had pulled him to safety by around 7:30pm.

The man was not injured and required no medical treatment but was said to be "somewhat embarrassed by their predicament".

North Berwick Coastguard Rescue have now issued a warning to always remember to "stick to pathways".

If you see someone in difficulty or something you are concerned about on the shoreline, beaches, cliffs, mud or water, you can call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.
