Man left 'beaten and unable to walk' after gang of thugs pounce in late night Edinburgh attack

A man was reportedly 'beaten and left unable to walk' after being pounced on by a gang of thugs in a late night attack in Edinburgh.

Police sealed off McDonald Road, near to the Bonnington area of the capital, at around 11pm on Wednesday October 6.

It is reported the victim was walking home when a 'group of lads' jumped out and battered him, in which a local described as 'horrible to witness'.

Photographs shared with the Record show a cordon blocking off one end of the road, that connects the B900 and Haddington Place.

One officer is seen patrolling the cordon, while one ambulance vehicle was spotted in the area.

The source told the Record: "A guy who lives a few doors down from me was on his way home and making his way along the road.

"Next minute a group of lads then jumped out and seriously attacked him.

"It looked really bad.

"The guy wasn't able to walk after it and his face was also very beaten.

"It was really horrible to see."

Officers did not close any further detail at this stage.

A spokesman from the force told the Record: "We were called to an incident in McDonald Road, Edinburgh at 11pm on Wednesday.

"We are awaiting full details to come in from local officers.

"Police Scotland have no further information to pass on at this time."

The Scottish Ambulance Service have been contacted for comment.
