Man leaves people in stitches after confessing jelly mistake he's made for 20 years

People have left gobsmacked after a man confessed he's been eating jelly the wrong way for years without realising.

As most jelly connoisseurs will know, you can usually buy your favourite flavours ready-made or ready to be mixed.

If you opt for this latter option, simply add boiling water to your cubes, then enjoy your jelly once it has dissolved.

Well, unless you're keen to follow an unconventional method as one foodie accidentally did.

Not noticing you're supposed to add the cubes to water, the man ate the jelly straight from the packet - and he only realised his error 20 years after developing the habit.

Fessing up in a review posted to Tesco's website, he revealed all.

Commenting on the product page for Hartleys Strawberry Jelly 135G, the mistaken fan wrote: "Thought cubes tasted great, very strong and a bit chewy, then was pointed out to me that they are in fact supposed to be melted in water... after spending 20 years eating cubes. Will give an update when I've tried them as intended :("

Understandably, the website entry from 2021 stood out among the rest of the feedback, and it quickly grabbed attention when a screenshot of the review was shared online last week.

The photo was posted on Twitter by @NoContextBrits, where social media users responded with shock.

"If this is legit then by far the best 20 year discovery ever," read one reply.

"What next, drinking concentrated juice," wrote another.

Meanwhile, several commenters revealed they purposefully enjoy the jelly in cube form as they like the taste.

One fan said: "Always treat myself to a few cubes when I'm making jelly." A second put: "I used to love eating jelly cubes and also oxo cubes." And a third agreed, writing: "Are you even British if you don't eat a cube while making the jelly?"

Meanwhile, someone revealed: "I used to eat raw jelly before my swimming competitions for an instant energy boost. Still not sure if it worked, but I did get bronze in the butterfly nationals."

Another cube advocate added: "My Nan used regularly to give me one of these on the drive back from shopping (to shut me up cos I moaned and whined). Ate it cubes and all. Stunning."
