Man leads police on high-speed chase through Glasgow before legging it

A man led police on a chase through Glasgow this afternoon before abandoning his car and legging it.

Officers raced to the scene when the car failed to stop when signalled to on the M77 northbound near junction 1.

Cops pursued the vehicle on a high-speed chase before it was abandoned in the New City Road in the north area of the city.

Dozens of police vehicles as well as sniffer dogs were spotted on the scene while they searched for the driver.

The area was cordoned off before the man was eventually arrested nearby.

Police enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Around 12.15pm on Tuesday, 15 June, a car failed to stop when signalled to by police on the M77 northbound near junction 1.

“Officers pursued the vehicle which was abandoned in the New City Road area of Glasgow.

“A man was arrested nearby and enquiries are ongoing into the full circumstances.”
