Man knocked unconscious after being shoved to the ground in Weston-super-Mare

A man was knocked unconscious after smashing his head on the pavement as he was pushed to the ground.

Three men approached the victim, who is in his 50s, in Weston-super-Mare High Street last night (Monday, September 21).

One of them shoved him to the ground outside the Playhouse theatre, and then walked off as he lay injured.

Avon and Somerset Police said the attack, which happened at about 10.30pm, left the victim with a "serious" head injury.

He had to be taken by ambulance to Musgrove Park Hospital, where he remained this morning (Tuesday).

The man who pushed him walked off in the direction of Boulevard and the Italian Gardens.

He is described as white and wearing a two-tone hoodie with the hood up.

Police have urged anyone who saw what happened, or who might have information that could help, to call 101 quoting the reference 5220215041.

The force did not state if the men were thought to be known to each other.
