A brawl near a pub saw one man knifed and another left with head wounds.
The "large-scale disturbance" broke out near the The Swan Hotel in Prenton, Wirral , last night.
Police were called to Holm Lane at around 9.30pm to reports of "a fight involving men, some of whom were described as having weapons".
Two men in their 20s went to hospital. Police said one of the men had been stabbed in the back and the second had a "minor head wound".
Detective Chief Inspector Robbie Moss said: "At this early stage, we are still looking to establish exactly what happened, and who was involved.
"This violent incident appears to have involved several people, thankfully none of whom have sustained critical injuries. But we are determined to find those responsible and put them before the courts.
"Given the time and location, we think there are likely to be witnesses who have yet to come forward with what they know, so please do so.
"Were you in or close to (the hotel) last night, or passing by? Whether you hold dashcam, CCTV, other footage or have just heard anything since, let us know."
The fight happened the same night as two attacks in Walton .
Two men in their 20s were shot after a masked man barged into a home on Dane Street, police said. Another man suffered serious head and facial injuries in a suspected robbery on Walton Road.
The gunshot victims are not in a life-threatening condition.
